Every year, we see the Christmas season as a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the generosity of God. Our annual Christmas Offering has enabled us to generously give to the needs of others as we finish out the year. This year, our goal is $25,000 and we are presented with the opportunity to bless our community and the world.
This year, we have an exciting opportunity to deploy “one of our own” as a missionary and to fund our vision to create a non-profit organization, I Love Glen Burnie, that unifies and blesses our community. It is energizing to dream about what God will do through our generosity!
Here are our specific goals for this year’s Christmas Offering:
- $10K will be used to launch Pastor Krista Whye into full time missionary status in 2018. By answering God’s calling on her life to enter full time missions, Krista will first deploy to Nairobi, Kenya and work with Nairobi Chapel for one year to prepare her and a team to plant an international church in the summer of 2018. Our investment will take care of her day to day needs and the program in Nairobi for one year.
- $9K will be used to launch I Love Glen Burnie into a non-profit organization that will unite churches and local professionals to the outward focused mission of providing hope to our local community. As I shared in my vision sermon, this past October, we not only plan to fund the legal and business beginnings of this non-profit, we also plan to help fund the several outreaches we already have planned for 2018.
- Finally, the remaining $6K will be used to offset the cost of our mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya next year. We will visit our sponsored children in their “Compassion Centers” and participate in an international Convoy of Hope project with the Masai tribes. The overall cost for this trip is substantial, and our giving in the Christmas Offering will help to reduce the per person cost.
We have several ways you can give, at church, on the web or app; but not matter how you give, please be sure to select “Christmas Offering” on your gift so it is accounted for appropriately.
